During our PSHE lessons, Y6 have been learning how to celebrate difference, exploring and challenging perceptions of what is ‘normal’ and developing understanding of how individuals or groups of people can have power over another. Lots of fantastic discussion in groups! Well done!
In PE, Year 6 have been practising different phrases of dance steps and body percussion. They use sharp, controlled movements and showed great rhythm and are having lots of fun! Well done!
Year 6 worked hard this afternoon to practise some sewing stitches to prepare for our DT textiles project. Miss Caldwell was so impressed by their skills and I think they even surprised themselves! It was lovely to see them supporting one another too! Well done!
Year 6 enjoyed some drama today during their English lesson. They explored the memories of characters through freeze frames to begin to introduce flashbacks into their narrative.
What a lovely way to celebrate Maths Party day in Year 6- exploring parabolic curves as we listened to the Maths party playlist, a game of two stones and reading about the first computer programmer Ada Lovelace
Year 6 celebrated the end of our Other Faiths week by enjoying some apples dipped in honey – a traditional treat to mark the Jewish new year -Rosh Hashanah – apples and honey represent hopes for a year with lots of good and sweet things to come.
Year 6 led us in our prayer and liturgy this morning. Thank you to the parents and governors who attended.
Year 6 used the role on the wall activity to explore the feelings and thoughts of Rose Blanche and the soldier in the image on the front cover
They worked collaboratively to develop words and phrases they could use to create a contrast poem during our first incidental write.
We enjoyed our sessions with Peter from My Bank – learning all about the difference between needs and wants and how we can budget for spending and saving
